School Name History:
Elected to the Washoe County School District Board of Trustees from 1972 to 1984,
Jerry Carr Whitehead served the Board as a member, clerk, vice-president, and president.
He was an attorney and a trial court judge before being elected as a Nevada District Court
judge. Along with his service on the School Board, he served as a PTA President, was on
the Board of Directors of the YMCA, the Boy Scouts of America, the Campfire Girls,
and the United Fund. He also served as president of the Washoe County Bar Association
and the Northern Nevada Trial Lawyers Association.
