Virginia Palmer Elementary School History

School Name History:
Virginia S. Palmer was a teacher for 41 years. Her final 34 years of teaching were spent at Mt. Rose Elementary School as a fourth grade teacher. She was presented with a Distinguished Service Award by the Washoe County Teachers Association. Miss Palmer was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Washoe County School District in 1977 and continued to serve through 1988. While on the Board of Trustees, she held the positions of president, vice president, and clerk. Virginia Palmer was born in Eureka, Nevada, and
she was a product of the White Pine School District in Ely, Nevada. She graduated from the University of Nevada in Reno and was noted for her service to the community.
